Ranging Memories Travelling Display

The Connaught Rangers Association are delighted to announce a new travelling display. Such a display brings the stories of the Rangers to life and introduce their history to a new audience. The exhibition is designed to engage the viewer in a creative and thought provoking way. The title of the display is taken from the book by Lt Col Jourdain of his service with the Regiment.

The history of the Rangers is intrinsically linked to Galway as so many men from the city and county joined its ranks. From 1881 Renmore Barracks was the Depot of the Connaught Rangers until they were disbanded in 1922. Many of the displays include stories of Galway men who served in the Connaught Rangers. The connection with Portumna Castle goes back to their foundation by Earl of Clanricarde in 1793.

The display is available for heritage and community groups to host in their areas to increase awareness of the Regiments’ history to a wider audience.
