‘Transparency and accountability are moral issues that must be the essence of public life and journalism.’ Julian Assange
‘Journalists are the enemy of the People’ Donald Trump
The proposed extradition of Julian Assange from the UK to the US is the start of Trump’s war on journalism and if granted will set a dangerous precedent; whereby any journalist or publisher anywhere in the world that publishes an article the Trump Administration finds offensive will face a lifetime in solitary confinement in a high security US prison.
This extradition seeks to criminalise investigative journalism and if extradition is granted has the potential for other governments to follow suit and will have far reaching and chilling effects on our right to know what is being done by Governments and Corporate Organisations. The Stakes couldn’t be higher!
‘ All people and institutions committed to freedom of speech, and not just the mainstream media with which WikiLeaks shared Washington’s secrets, now have an essential task: to demand the immediate release of Assange. ‘ Lula Da Silva President of Brazil 2002 – 2010
Unlike the kangaroo court hearing of Julian Assange’s extradition currently taking place at the Old Bailey in London, Wikileaks on Trial is written in a balanced way to present the facts, inform the public and stimulate debate.
A proportion of our sales will go to the crowdfund campaign to pay for Julian Assange’s Legal fees set up by his partner Stella Morris.
Actors include Patty Abozaglo, John Farrell and Jenny Bassett
